Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2–1 at the Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday, October 25, after Kylian Mbappé scored twice to end the Catalan club’s unbeaten start to the 2026–27 La Liga season.
Mbappé opened the scoring in the 41st minute before Barcelona’s Raphinha equalised after the break. With the match heading towards a draw, Mbappé struck again in the 87th minute to secure three valuable points for José Mourinho’s side.
The result tightened the race at the top of La Liga. Barcelona remained in first place with 27 points after 10 matches, while Atlético Madrid had 25 and Real Madrid moved to 24.
Mbappé Delivers When Madrid Need Him Most
Madrid’s opening goal came after a promising attacking move involving Yan Diomande. His cross into the penalty area was deflected by Barcelona defender Gerard Martín and bounced off Mbappé into the net.
Although the finish was fortunate, Madrid had created opportunities before taking the lead. Arda Güler tested goalkeeper Joan García, while Diomande came close to extending the visitors’ advantage before half-time.
Barcelona also had chances. Lamine Yamal missed an opportunity to equalise shortly after Mbappé’s opener, leaving the home side frustrated as the teams went into the break with Madrid ahead.
The second half brought a stronger response from the defending champions. In the 61st minute, Pedri found Raphinha with a clever pass, allowing the Brazilian forward to shoot past Andriy Lunin and restore parity.
Barcelona continued to push for a winner, but Madrid remained dangerous on the counterattack. Lunin made an important save to deny Gerard Martín from a header, helping his team survive a period of pressure.
Bellingham and Camavinga Help Set Up the Winner
The decisive moment arrived in the 87th minute. Jude Bellingham helped launch a rapid attacking move with a piece of individual skill before the ball reached Arda Güler and then Eduardo Camavinga.
Camavinga advanced into the penalty area and delivered a cutback that allowed Mbappé to finish from close range.
